La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin, roughly translated to English as "The Girl With the Flaxen Hair", is taken from Debussy's first book of piano preludes and is arranged here for trumpet ensemble.
Composed in 1910, the piece is impressionistic, with a beautiful melody shared amongst the instruments, and rich harmonies within the lower flugels and bass trumpet.
Debussy's inspiration came from Leconte de Lisle's poem of the same name, creating a wistful image of a young girl dreaming of what the future may bring.
