Born in Salford in 1989, British trumpeter Mark was brought up in a musical family and began his musical career with Astley Youth Band at the age of six and went on to also play with Bolton Youth Brass Band. He also began to pursue his talent for singing, with which he made history by becoming the youngest person ever to join the Halle Choir at the age of 16.
He studied trumpet and music performance at the RNCM in Manchester and the Oslo Musikkhøgskole and graduated with first class honours in 2012.
Since graduating, Mark has enjoyed a rich and diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician, jazz musician and all-round performer.
As a freelance trumpeter, he has worked with the Halle Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and numerous regional orchestras. He is a founding member of Norwegian brass ten-piece Brasskompaniet, with the group performing concerts, recording, and holding masterclasses.
A seasoned commercial artist, Mark has held contracts with regional theatres the Royal Exchange and Hope Mill Theatre as well as performing for UK tours such as The Producers and Billy Eillot. He has featured on various soundtracks and recorded for both emerging and established artists.
In September 2020, Mark relocated to Norway, but still maintains a strong relationship with his English community as a tutor with his childhood band Astley Youth Band, and as the director of Kearsley Youth Brass Band, who keep him very busy with teaching, arranging and conducting - all remotely!
